OUR SCHOOL

OUR SCHOOL:  MONTSERRAT COLOMER


Montserrat Colomer High school was founded in 2006. The current name of the school is in honour of the first Headmistress: Montserrat Colomer. Unfortunately, she died some years ago (before the school was called Josep Fosalba). Moreover, now the High School has about 420 students and 48 teachers.

Regarding the subjects we have, let us explain a little bit about each one:
  •  Languages: We have Catalan, Spanish and English. Also, some students have French because it is an optional subject. 
  • *Optional*: You choose an optional subject that offers the high school, such as: French, orchard, demography, English culture
  • Sciences: We have Natural Sciences and Social Sciences.
  • Maths: We learn about numbers, including equations.
  • Art: We work on programmes such as ‘Gimp’.
  • P.E. : We play different games and work on abilities such as strength.
  • Technology: We have theory and practice to do different projects in a workshop.
  • Citizenship: It is a subject in order to improve our social, cultural and personal development as citizens.
  •  Tutorial Session: It is a subject where all the students present their suggestions and try to solve them.


      3)  Interesting ACTIVITIES WE CAN DO IN our school

The school offers some interesting activities for all students, like:


  •      LANGUAGE EXCHANGES:  In 3rd we do two exchanges, one to Germany (talking in English) and the other one to France (talking French).

  •      SKIING: Some students of 3rd went to “La Molina” on 4th, 5th and 6th of February to spend funny time skiing!

  •      CARNIVAL: We disguise and perform for the rest of the school. Every class has a different disguise.

These three activities are the most relevant in this grade, but we do more activities, such as watching a performance on the theatre, do some trips...

   4)  Our academic year and holiday periods




Basically, we have three long holiday periods:
1)       CHRISTMAS’ Time: from 22nd December to 7th January (approx.)
2)      EASTER: from 28th Mars to 7th April.

3)      SUMMER Time: from 20th June to 12 September (approx.)
