MONDAY 23/3
TUESDAY 24/3
On
Tuesday, you’re going to visit our capital, Barcelona. This city is famous for
the modernist places, such as the Sagrada Família, and it is a
really common destination for many tourists in summer.
To begin with, you’re going
to go to the Gothic neighbourhood, the oldest place in the city, and also its
historical centre. It is full of souvenir shops either, and the streets are
very narrow. However, one of the squares is huge, and there’s where you can
find the Cathedral. It is a Gothic cathedral, it was built between the
thirteenth and fifteenth centuries and it is dedicated to Santa Eulàlia, Barcelona’s patron
saint. You can take beautiful pictures here.
Later, you’re going to walk along Les Rambles, one of the main streets of the city. It is divided in two parts: in the first one, you can find pet shops and florist’s, and in the last part, and the most interesting one, is where you can see real human statues and the caricaturists. In this street there’s an important market as well. It is called the Boqueria Market, it is the oldest and the biggest market in Catalonia, and it and it is very special, because you can buy there expensive exotic fruits or any food you’re looking for.
After having lunch, you’re going to go
to Barcelona’s port, one of the most famous ports in the
Mediterranean sea nowadays. In the middle of it, you’ll see a huge bridge
that’s going to lead you to the Maremagnum, a big shopping centre.
WEDNESDAY 25/3
On Wednesday, in the morning you’re going
to visit Cosmocaixa, a well-known science museum in our country.
You can learn a lot and having fun at the same time in there!
The next place you’re going to visit is
the Sagrada Família, probably the most famous building in the
entire city. It isn’t finished yet, but it is outstanding anyway. It was built
by Antoni Gaudí, a modernist architect of the nineteenth century,
who’s acclaimed for his monuments inspired in nature and geometry. Sadly, he
died run over by a train when he hadn’t finished the cathedral. For that
reason, some of the parts of the building have been designed by other
architects. Nowadays, it has 8 towers, but in the future, there will be 18 of
them.
Finally, you’re going to see the outside
of the Camp Nou stadium, where Futbol Club Barcelona’s
players train and play. It has a capacity of almost 100.000 spectators. Moreover, it’s one of the
most important stadiums in Spain and the club has a lot of fans around the
world.
THURSDAY 26/3
On Thursday, you’re going to do a trip to Montserrat, a mountain nearby. It is distinguished because of its curious shape, the monastery and its choirboys, and the Montserrat’s black Holy Mother, called La Moreneta. Many years ago, the mountain was underwater, and that’s why its rocks are indeed little pebbles together. There is a well-known choir of boys in the cathedral and you are going to listen to them around 1 o’clock. They sing very well, their music style is religious. At lunch time, we are going to arrive in Sant Esteve.
